Tim-bor Professional  is a water-soluble borate powder concentrate that acts as a wood preservative, fungicide and insecticide to prevent and control wood decay fungi, drywood and subterranean termites, carpenter ants, old house borers, and powderpost beetles. Tim-bor can be applied as a liquid solution to new construction or any clean, bare logs and other wood to protect and preserve the wood. Tim-bor can also be dusted into drywood termite galleries to kill termites in as little as seven days. Tim-bor can be used as a dust, liquid or foam for both exterior and interior logs and other wood. Applied in liquid form to clean, bare logs and other wood, the borate active ingredient creates a protective envelope that provides years of protection when sealed under your log home finish.

Tim-bor Professional features include:

Application Guide

  • Mixing Tim-bor solution:  Mix at the rate of 1 lb of Tim-bor (1 loosely packed quart) for each gallon of water (for a 10% Tim-bor Professional liquid solution).
  • Coverage (10% solution): 25 lb pail of Tim-bor will yield 27 gal of 10% solution that will cover 4,050 sq ft of log surface. 
  • Application temperature:  40° F to 90° 
  • Where to use Tim-bor: On aboveground wood surfaces
  • Surface preparation: Wood surface must be clean and bare, free of dirt, wax, mill glaze and surface finishes.
  • Application methods: Spraying (with garden sprayer), brushing, dipping, kerf-flooding or hole flooding. Thoroughly soak cut ends, checks and cracks.
  • Application:  Apply 1st coat of 10% Tim-bor solution at the rate of 1 mixed gallon to 150 sq ft. Apply 2nd coat 4 to 24 hours later. Thoroughly soak cut ends, checks and cracks.
  • Frequency: Tim-bor protection will last many years as long as the treated wood continues to be properly sealed by a water-repellent finish. When the exterior finish fails to protect the treated wood, the old finishes will need to be stripped down to clean bare wood before applying new Tim-bor protection and a new finish.
  • Coverage rate: 1 mixed gallon of Tim-bor 10% solution covers 150 sq ft of wood surface
